VOLUNTEER DONKEY, WILDLIFE & COMMUNITY OUT REACH VOLUNTEERING PROGRAMME HWANGE, GWAYI, VICTORIA FALLS, BULAWAYO, MATOPO
We offer an exciting, 3 week riding, volunteering and community outreach adventure!
Where your adventure starts as you land in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second largest city and home to The mystical granite outcrops, The Matopos National Park, part of the World Heritage sites. You will be collected by your host, Claire Einhorn, Founder of Matabeleland Animal Rescue & Equine Sanctuary, MARES and taken to your home away from home accommodation, situated in the tranquil suburb of Suburbs.
One of our Sancturaries is Called Epona. The meaning of Epona in Celtic, is the Goddess of Ponies, mules and horses and guardian of lands.
Epona is the heart of our rural community outreach initiative centre for donkey welfare, sterilization and vaccinating of rural dogs and cats and not forgetting the abundant wildlife of this area. Our anti-poaching project is the latest initiative at Epona and very vital. Epona is just on the border of Hwange National Park, the largest unfenced game park in Zimbabwe.
Once in our Volunteer program we give you a weekly detailed itenerary of what a volunteer can expect during their stay at Epona and so much more. Once again, we are dealing with live animals and wildlife and no 2 days are the same and it is almost impossible to predict what will happen on each day. But whatever does happen, we take it on board and add it to another life time experience!
